Here is my combo cheap van and throwback Thursday. This old Dodge Caravan cost me $1000, ended up my home for about a month at one point while I was still waiting for the dorms to reopen after the summer. The “shaggin’ waggon” also served time as the party wagon during my final year in college and became an impromtu RV that managed to haul me all the way from Fairbanks, Alaska back to the lower 48 before deciding to give up it’s unreliable ghost just south of Denver, where it probably still sits, rotting if it wasn’t crushed. The Continental Divide was just too much for the poor thing. It is probably the worst car that I’ve ever owned that I actually miss.

Also pictured is the then-future Mrs. Ontop who was helping me prepare a campsite somewhere off the road near Destruction Bay in the Yukon Territory.

Kinja'd!!!

Enjoy the picture in all it’s 90’s potato cam glory.

This implies worse cars that you don’t miss?

Oh yes, that along with my $400 Brat were my favorite ‘bad’ cars. however, I have had a long line of shitty cars that I don’t miss, even a little.

Chevy Citation- It was impossible for that car to stay fixed!

Plymouth K car wagon- fucking horrible car. I blame the shitty Mitsubishi sourced 4 cyl engine that they used..

Dawoo Lanos- don’t judge me. I needed a car and it was cheap. As I discovered, it was cheap for a reason, and it needed to be repaired constantly! (I did like the way it looked though)

There are more, but I don’t want to make you vomit.

I was young and broke, so I had to do with whatever I could get. Definately not a trust fund kid, that’s for sure.

I was young and broke too, but still had some(very little) minimum requirements.

I had a 85 sentra wagon, then a 91 Hyundai s’coope, then 91 honda civic hatchback, then a 91 cavalier z24, then i started working full time.

I got my licence in 1995

I’m about 10 years older than you and was pretty much on my own from the time I could drive, so I had other bills too. Cool car was on the list, but so was eating and shelter....so it had to take a back seat for a while.
